Qigong (pronounced Chee-gong) is a series of slow gentle movements, to promote health and wellbeing by bringing ‘qi’ or lifeforce into the body and encouraging it to flow without blockage.  The exercises loosen the joints, strengthen the tendons and muscles, improve circulation and relax the nervous system.
According to a recent report from the Harvard Medical Journal “This gentle form of exercise can help maintain strength, flexibility and balance, and could be the perfect activity for the rest of your life” and goes on “Tai Chi is often called ‘meditation in motion’ but might be called ‘medication in motion’.  There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice which originated in china as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems.  And you can get started even if you aren’t in the best of health.”

I had been looking for gentle exercise, after an injury, and had been interested in trying Tai Chi. I found more than I was looking for in Gillian's class. She is very relaxed, patient and friendly which creates a great atmosphere. I have found I am more supple and gained techniques to cope better with stress and anxiety. Gillian has a keen interest in Tai Chi including relaxation and meditation and through her coaching I am gaining an inner feeling of wellbeing. I would highly recommend this class.

I would thoroughly recommend Gillian’s tai chi class.  I joined two years ago and the welcome and friendliness was lovely.  It is hard to put into words how tai chi works but it does.
My own experience happened this year when I had a heart attack in April and had to have a triple By-pass.  It was hard going but I used my breathing technique that Gillian had taught us and I was stress free.  I am now back at my class and doing well.

Since joining Gillian’s Wednesday Qigong class I have found that my mobility and balance has improved.  Also the Pysio Dept of the hospital I attend have said that Tai Chi is one of the best forms of exercise I can do for Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I recommend it to everyone.

I don't know why I love it, I just do, and feel my breathing is much better after it.       H.S. Johnstone

“Great for stress relief, relaxation and the ‘feel good’
factor.        HG, Elderslie

Since starting Gillian's Qigong classes my physical health has greatly improved.  Emotionally I am much calmer also and
able to cope with whatever life throws at me in a much better way.  After the class I feel so relaxed and yet
also energised:)   NC,  Paisley

Went along to the Elderslie Village Hall one Wednesday to test out the Tai Chi.  Been hooked ever since.  It's so relaxing, good for the mind and soul and you also get a good laugh.

I have been attending Tai Chi classes in Elderslie for several weeks now and although I am a beginner I have found a great difference in my stress levels already and feel an overall sense of wellbeing.  I also find Gillian creates a relaxed and welcoming environment.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Gillian and her wondrful classes.

I started Tai Chi Qigong classes over two years ago and it has been hugely beneficial for me.  It started as a means to aleviate stress and  I felt a difference right away.  Over time it helped with pains in my muscles and joints.  Now that I have spent a fair amount of time doing it I can say that it has improved my condition both mentally and physically.  I'd recommend it to everyone.

When I first started Tia Chi Qigong a year ago it was because I had chronic pain in my left leg and hip due to muscle wasting and found I couldn't do rigorous exercises.  I was recommended to go to Gillian's classes and I found the movements suited me as they were relaxing and I could do them to my own range of movement and it didn't increase my pain.  After about four months I found the pain was less severe and I was able to reduce my pain killers.  I find the movemnts help my joints and at the end of each session I leave feeling relaxed and calm.  I would recommend this to everyone.
